Experimenting with a new video-camera, which reminded me of our dear old neighbour in Cambridgeshire years ago. I had introduced a television programme on the music of Charles Ives, which to put it mildly would not be expected to be up Mr Mead's street. He was in the garden next morning, and said, over the fence, 'Saw you on the telly last night, Derek.' 'Oh, yes, Mr Mead,' I said. 'Yes,' he said. Long pause. ''At was a very clear picture.'
